Medical Physics

Purpose:
The purpose of this Challenge Project is to provide 40S Physics students with hands-on application of the principles and applications of nuclear physics.

Assignment:
To research a specific medical application of nuclear physics and to prepare a class presentation to share that information.
This project involves a variety of individual and group assignments. Student teams are responsible for the preparation and submission of the following:
  • a research report introducing the specific technology and its use, explaining how the technology works, sharing some interesting facts, indicating it's historical development, its current application, and its potential future applications. Related images with captions should be included to enhance your report;
  • a class presentation involving the use of  PowerPoint;
  • a class demonstration highlighting the use of the technology; and
  • a class fact sheet for audience reference during the presentation.
